Repurchases #1

13.11.12

I try out so many beauty products that it's kind of a big deal when something gets repurchased, so I thought I'd talk about my most recent re-buys - not exclusives on my 'to-repurchase' list, but definitely products I'd happily sign up to quarterly deliveries of.

Even though I've been trying to use up the odds and ends of shampoo and conditioners, my hair hasn't been the same since I ran out of Ojon Dry Recovery. At £18 for the shampoo and £19.50 for the conditioner, the price tag is still a little bit eye-watering but my nothing seems to hydrate my hair and scalp quite like it. The last time I had my hair cut, everyone who touched it said it was in great condition. This never happens. It's usually a prime opportunity for stylists to tell you how damaged your hair is and flog you some products which inevitably gather dust at the back of the cupboard. So I took that as a sign and stocked up. Luckily Ojon are now stocked in Boots so much easier to get your hands on.

Whilst perusing the aisles in Boots, I also got sucked into their 3 for 2 offer with some Soap & Glory products which also happen to be repurchases. Firstly, their Clean On Me shower gel. Perhaps it's biggest selling point, particularly if you live with an indiscriminate male when it comes to shower products, is the huge 500ml £5.50 bottle with its remarkably economical pump. It squirts out just the right amount (a little goes a long way) so there's no waste, and it lasts a good couple of months making it a staple for everyday use. Of course the product is also a winner too. It's fragranced with the 'classic' Soap & Glory scent, which is apparently very similar to Miss Dior Cherie, but it's not overwhelming in the shower and has never caused any irritation or dryness on my skin. It just leaves it feeling soft and clean. Likewise Soap & Glory's Calm One, Calm All bubble bath. The fruity-floral fragrance is definitely not the most relaxing fragrance on the market, but if you want a bubble bath that is cheap enough to use multiple times a week, but not so cheap that it doesn't do anything for your skin, it's one to look into.

Finally, I picked up another bottle of Caudalie Beauty Elixir. Talk of this product has been circulating since spring and now most people have tried it I would say there is a 50-50 split between the 'expensive water that doesn't do anything' and 'can't be without it' camps. Clearly I'm in the latter and, despite trying to be thrifty with it, I seem to get through it astonishingly fast. For me, it gets top marks for calming my skin and, quite often, my mind. It's endlessly refreshing in a minty-herby kind of way and the ingredients definitely help to keep my skin balanced all through the month, whilst helping to tackle any acneic areas. It does contain quite a bit of alcohol, however. So if you have dry skin, I'd probably give this one a miss, particularly during winter.

Are you always trying new things, or are there some products that always end up back in your shopping basket?

  1. I love the clean on me shower gel, it's lasted me nearly 6 months which is shocking considering I used to go through a bottle every 2 weeks of different shower gels.
I love your blog, you give such honest opinions :) xx

  2. I always repurchase clean on me too, I adore it! I like to try new things but if I find something I love then I'll just repurchase that until the end of time. I do this with my foundation - I've found the perfect one so I won't buy any others haha.

  3. Not sure if you know but Ojon have amazing deals on their website whereby if you buy any product they'll throw in a full-size shampoo and conditioner free. Crazy crazy. I've also got a sneaky suspicion that they're going to rotate the shampoo + conditioner combo that's free too (last month it was the volumising range, this month it seems to be the damage repair lot so next up may be your Dry Recovery ones - worth checking on a regular basis anyway because it's a crazy good deal!) xx

  4. Oh this is a great post idea!
My mum got 9 bottles of clean on me in her last boots order because of 3 for 2....
Very tempted by Ojon, I just don't think I can justify the price this close to Christmas. Its nice that its in boots now, think of all the lovely boots points that can be earnt!

  5. I would love Soap&Glory to be this affordable in Germany as well. :/ I don't know why but it's almost as expensive as your Ojon products over here!
I don't even dare to look for Ojon here but it sounds SO lovely especially because it's also good for your scalp.

  6. Soap & Glory products always end up on my repurchase list. I just love the scent (I've always said it smells like Miss Cherie!) and think it's good value for money. I'm dying to try the Caudalie Beauty Elixir too! Think that will be on my list for this months buys!

  22. I'm definitely with you on the Caudalie Elixir, I can't imagine being without it, tragically! On my repurchased list is the Caudalie SOS Thirst Quenching Serum, REN Glycolactic Skin Renewal Mask and Omorovicza's Deep Cleansing Mask. The Omorovicza is quite expensive, but oh my heavens, it's worth it!

  31. I have literally just spent all of my free time for the past two days reading all (actually) of your blog posts. I love your blog and your writing style! Such a great layout and I love how some of the posts require a 'Read More' click as I assume you don't think the majority of your readers will want to read it. Just wanted to drop you a line to say all of this haha Congrats on a great blog!

  35. I use the Simple face mist, I'm worried about getting addicted to the Caudalie one so I haven't tried it yet. I always repurchase my Simple soothing toner and of course the Liz Earle hot cloth cleanser. I couldn't live without these two products!

  36. I'm also a big fan of a lot of Soap & Glory, although there are some products that aren't worth the hype.
Unfortunately, I'm one of those people who cannot find any difference on my skin when using the Caudalie beauty elixir. I also wrote a blog post on it: http://www.makeupmonkey.blogspot.de/2012/07/caudalie-eau-de-beaute-magic-water.html

  42. Clean on Me is something I always repurchase. Although its takes me that long to get through it I don't have to repurchase it often. The Caudalie I liked and enjoyed using it but I am on the fence about repurchasing. I might have to get the hubby to but for my Xmas.

  44. You should get the Ojon shampoo on QVC, they often do duos for around £25 so you save loads or even better in nice little sets.
