I posted about the products that have been living on my desk, so I thought I'd do one about my bedside beauty products too. Yes, that is a Neom candle. I'm a creature of habit. I wax lyrical (pun-tastic) about these so I'll skip over that and straight onto my eye cream, Kiehl's Creamy Eye Treatment with Avocado (full review here). I'm not sure if it's just me, but I do my entire skincare routine in the bathroom except for my eye cream? I can only do that if I'm in bed.
The teeny tiny bottle is a sample of Darphin Chamomile Aromatic Care which is 'A concentrate of plant oils to deeply penetrate and act from within to calm and re-energise skin, soothing redness and clarifying the complexion. Ideal for sensitive skin prone to redness and irritations.' I'm swimming in skincare at the moment, so can't justify the splurge of £42 for the full size (although it's currently 20% off on FeelUnique), but it's a really nice oil to use in the evening. I just warm a couple of drops between my fingers and massage it into my face if I feel like I need it a couple of hours after my normal evening skincare routine. It sinks in rapidly and soothes the skin whilst giving my moisturiser a boost. I'm trying out the new Origins Spot Remover Blemish treatment pads* on a couple of stubborn breakouts. I've been using one pad every other night, gently wiped over problem areas and it has cleared up one area already without drying the surrounding skin out. A full review is on its way once I've tried them for a bit longer!
I'm also giving Dr. Lipp* a test so my usual bedside favourite, Balance Me Rose Otto lip balm, has stepped aside for a few nights. Originally a nipple balm, much to my boyfriend's amusement, it's a paraben free multipurpose balm with lanolin to soften and hydrate. Antipodes Saviour Skin Balm* is my current nighttime hand cream, cuticle cream and all around hero. It's antimicrobial, antifungal and antibacterial so you can put it on pretty much any ailment and the tin is beautiful, no?

Does Darphin Chamomile Aromatic Care have a strong perfume scent? I loved what Clarins Blue Orchid oil did for my face but the scent, as with most perfumes, gave me a killer headache. Love the blog

I always keep a hand cream, currently my Soap and Glory hand food, on my bed side table. My Elizabeth Arden eight hour cream which I use on my lips over night also has a frequent appearance, plus my lush bubblegum lip scrub. I also keep a cooling spray during the warmer weather so I feel cool and calm at night. Great post xxx
ReplyDeleteAh i use rose otto balm too, one of the best i've ever tried! I'm kind of the same, i cleanse tone etc in the bathroom but can only ever moisturise once i'm in bed! Strange habits eh x
ReplyDeleteLovely post! :) I have a boots lavender pillow mist to help me get to sleep at night, about three different lip products (I can never seem to settle on just one! Haha) and a small sample of Clinique moisture surge moisturiser :) x
ReplyDeletei love the origins super spot corrector, i have the gel though, not the pads! would you say the pads are worth it/work as well as the gel? i was a little dubious at first! x

What a gorgeous selection of products!! My bedtime must-haves are Olay night cream and Nivea eye cream along with a large glass of water to keep my skin clear. My table always looks a mess though but this has inspired me to light a candle and have a tidy up! x
ReplyDeleteright now I have a rose hand cream from the body shop, nuxe reve de miel lip balm, and embryolisse lait creme concentre for my face moisturizer. I also have a teeny nivea lip balm for when I don't feel like using the NUXE. Lovely post, Meg!

Love the sound of the Antipodes balm. I'm away next week and have scheduled a post similar to this!
ReplyDeleteThis all sounds so luxurious and lovely! I'm the same with eye creams, my current one from Clinique lives on my bedside table alongside current reading and a shameful amount of empty mugs. x
ReplyDeleteLove the Neom candle!

ReplyDeleteAs for my own bedside table - Jessica Phenomen-Oil, Vaseline Hand and Nail Cream, Eight Hour Cream, and my inhaler (not glamourous but pretty essential!)

Your bedside table is a lot more organised than mine, mine is swimming in products at the moment. I'm trying out Dr Lipp too, I'm not sure on it xx
ReplyDeleteThat nipple balm made me laugh, as here in Australia we have a similar product in Lucas' Papaw Ointment (manufactured in Queensland)- that, too, is primarily a nipple balm but does wonders for dry lips and is a bit of an obsession for most of us!
ReplyDeleteI don't have a bedside table but manage to keep a collection of things in the corner of my bed: Nivea Daily Face Veil in SPF 30, some sort of Sally Hansen Nail Polish/Nail Protector (at the moment it's Smooth & Perfect Care & Colour in Sorbet), water bottle, and the aforementioned Lucas' Papaw Ointment. :)
I'm intrigued by the darphin oil, might see if it's any cheaper to pick up when I'm in France.
ReplyDeleteI actually posted a 'what's on my bed side table' post yesterday morning (mine is a lot more cluttered) - great minds eh! x

Gosh...you have so many fantastic things on your bedside table...I have a lamp and eye cream..This review, however, inspired me to invest in other relaxing and soothing skin care products....Thanks :)
ReplyDeleteI went into Selfridges the other day, all excited ready to pick out a big fat Neom candle for my birthday, and you know what, I thought they all smelt really weird and artificial? Where was I going wrong?:(
