I might not be a fan of some of the changes Boots have made to their Botanics line, but alongside the rebranding they have brought out some interesting new products. The one that caught my attention most is their new Rosewater Toning Spritz.
Spray toners feel so much more refreshing than ones applied with cotton wool during the summer and they also cut down on waste. As I double cleanse using a muslin cloth, I'm not personally looking for a toner to remove excess makeup or cleanser so I skip wiping the toner off with cotton wool. Instead I just spritz it on, dabbing off any excess with a towel, to refresh and calm the skin before moisturiser. I wish the mist it created was slightly finer, but that's a small complaint.
I don't feel as though this toner is as calming or clarifying to my skin as the Caudalie beauty elixir, but it does contain less potential irritants and also glycerin, so this might be a good option for more sensitive or dry skin types. It's also a lot cheaper at £4.99. Still a bit of an unjustified hike from the range's previous pricing, but at time of writing it is on offer for £3.33.
The ingredients are super simple (Aqua (Water), Alcohol denat.*, Glycerin*, Rosa damascena flower oil*, Citronellol) and it's 100% organic.

I like this toner but I agree some of the changes are unwelcome! I used to swear by the botanics eye make up remover as it was so cheap and worked like a dream but I recently picked up a new one (which happened to be the new packaging) and it makes my eyes sting like crazy! Red rimmed eyes are not sexy haha :) x
ReplyDeleteI love this toning spritz, definitely a winner by Botanics!

Sounds good. I love anything rose. Such a shame Botanics have rebranded though. While the range looks a lot better, they've got rid of my favourite product - their mousse cleanser. Sob.

Must be a great product!
ReplyDeleteI might give that one a try next - I'm currently loving this one from Boots http://bit.ly/Nlc2vr - not as cheap as yours, but still much better than Caudalie

I'm not sure why they've changed everything it was a really nice brand anyway! Some of the new packaging is pretty nice though x

I bought this and I'll use it up but I prefer my Caudalie Beauty Elixier.

This isn't actually a new product, it's one of the few that they haven't changed the formula of at all but it used to come in a basic bottle, they've just added the spray packaging. Personally this is great for my because I used to just decant it into a spray bottle anyway!

I LOVE this stuff, great for hot days! I had this in the original packaging too and I don't think they have changed the forumla since then, but it's better in the spray bottle!

thanks for this review Meg! I love the Caudalie Beauty Elixir but my skin is quite dehydrated and I think the Caudalie aggravates it :( so I might give this one a go! xx
ReplyDeleteI picked this up at the weekend, but I'm holding off trying it until the last of my beauty elixir runs out. I think it'll be far more suitable for my dry skin!

I never knew about the brand before they rebranded but I'm really enjoying this toner. Sometimes I find double cleansing doesn't completely take off my stubborn mascara and there are some bits left so it's great for removing that and also refreshing when you just spritz it on!
ReplyDeleteI love this product. So good for summer or traveling because it's so cooling and effortless.

I'm looking for a replacement for the Caudalie Beauty Elixir (I just can't justify the £10 price tag every month and a half) so I might look into this. I do prefer a proper mist though so I'll have to hunt about!

Ah Meg, you have such a knack of managing to convince me to buy everything you write about. I'm a bit wary about trying the repackaged Botanics range, but this sounds relatively okay and I adore a good rosewater product.
ReplyDeletei love this spritz
ReplyDeleteI love rosewater toners, this one sounds good and with a good price to match! x

I'm so glad you bought/reviewed this! When I saw my beloved Boots rosewater toner was being discontinued I was in a panic. I also saw the ingredient changes in the line and have wondered why they would do that. It was practically perfect the way it was!
ReplyDeleteI really want to try this! Looks lovely!
