Now that
summer is officially here , plenty of ladies (and gents?!) are
spending a little more time on their tanning and hair removal routines. Whilst
there are quite a few at-home self-tans on the market that will keep you
looking bronzed all week, at-home depilation has often trailed behind, meaning
stubbly legs after a couple of days or expensive and time consuming trips to
the salon.
The
brainy folk at Philips (did you know they also make MRI scanners?) have been
applying their scientific minds to the beauty industry for a number of years,
coming up with a home depilation range which uses breakthrough technology to
make having smooth skin every day convenient and easy.
The Philips
Lumea range offers long-term hair removal at home using the Intense Pulse Light
(IPL) technology usually found in salons. The gentle pulses of light work by
producing heat, which is transferred to the hair follicle to put it into a
resting phase. The hair then sheds naturally and re-growth is inhibited. After
the initial treatment once every two weeks for 8-10 weeks, repeat treatments
will only be necessary every 4-6 weeks - meaning beautifully smooth skin,
everyday, all summer long.
Many
at-home IPL devices are not suitable for the sensitive facial skin, so Philips
introduced the Lumea Precision model. As well as offering a long-term hair
removal solution for the body, it features a dual filter facial attachment that
is backed by clinical testing. This little gadget has a smaller window and extra
UV filter, to prevent damage to the delicate skin of the face and ensure hair
is kept away quickly and easily. .

Is this a advert? I thought you gave sincere reviews about products you bought with your own money! Disappointed Meg.
ReplyDeleteYes, which is why it is marked at such (and wasn't the only post today). There are adverts in the side and top bar which are never commented on?
DeleteIt is also purely informational - there is no review or positive-negative bias.
I'm sorry you're disappointed but it doesn't change my actual reviews in any way and I fail to see how it is different to the content of my sidebar?
I like the smaller print you used for "sponsored post". Adverts everywhere, on youtube, on facebook and now on people's blogs. I wonder how much they paid you for this. Ridiculous.
ReplyDeleteI like how you have written this anonymously. I wonder how much courage it took for you to write this, oh yes that's right, none! THATS ridiculous. If you're proud to be making a point about something, you could at least make it as a person, and not hide behind anonymous.
DeleteI wonder if people would be making comments if they were making sponsored posts, or received *free* things to review? I doubt it.
ReplyDeleteTake no notice Meg. Your blog is lovely, your YouTube videos are always a joy to watch and you present yourself so well on all your social domains. You have nothing to be disappointed about! xo
Meg should take notice of bad and positive comments. It is too easy only to accept the nice, cute comments, isn't it? grow some courage and accept that the world is not all in pink. Nobody said she is not a joy to watch, she is!
DeletePS: not everyone is the same, not everybody will do anything for free stuff or money, some people do not need this and they are happy without, happy with their own things.
Funny how you say she should 'grow some courage' yet here you're sat commenting anonymously? That makes the world of sense! (also you cannot actually GROW courage)
Delete~PS~ you are right on one thing, not everyone is same, but that comment highlights just how bitter and jealous you are haha.
Meg, your blog is quite obviously very popular & successful. Which is why you were asked to do this post, I'd see that as a very big positive. You deserve the recognition for the effort you put into all of this. xxx
Bad and negative, yes. Comments however which are purely made in an attempt to try and cause upset and insult? No.
DeleteAlso I would like to point out that not only are you trying to arouse an argument with me over the internet (calm down keyboard warrior) but you are doing so anonymously. This is not Tumblr, and opinions giving anonymously are very often never to be given a second thought as they are made cowardly. I never implied the World was all pink - I do not however agree that the comments made were appropriate. If someone does not like sponsored posts, there is a better way to get that across without implying that what Meg has done is a disappointment to the blogging community. That's just idiotic.
Now, I am not going to sit and have a total unnecessary conversation on Meg's blog. That lacks manners. So if you wish to continue this conversation 'grow some courage' and contact me directly and un-anonymously. Otherwise go make yourself a cup of tea, sit down and relax. The World is not your enemy.
To Tami:
Delete1. I am on Anon because I don't have a google account. Writing my name won't make any difference as she would not know my identity anyway. I can tell you who I am but you would not have a clue anyway.
2. Well done for spotting the English mistake, English is not my first language so go an be clever somewhere else.
3. Jealous of what? Of being paid for an advert, or being jealous because she is a famous beauty blogger? Come on, is make up people!! I am jealous of people like Peter Diamond, Hilary Clinton and Rudolph Giuliani not Meg (sorry you are lovely Meg but there is nothing to be jealous about). Plus, I can afford it, I do not need Philips to send it for free, I am not a tramp.
I just wanted to clarify these points, I am done here now. :)
Philips didn't send me the product - hence why there are no photos of the product nor actual 'review'. It is purely informational.
DeleteI won't lie, I'm really interested in IPL. To be honest I'm getting sick of shaving rash and I'm FAR too chicken to wax! Yup, I'm scared of waxing. There I said it! *embarrassed face* ;) xx
ReplyDeleteOMG THIS IS THE FIRST ADVERT I'VE EVER SEEN IN MY LIFE HOW WILL I COPE?!?!?!?! ;)
ReplyDeleteJeez...we live in a capitalist society and people are freaking out over one advert on a blog?! Why shouldn't you make money on a blog that you've put so much work into? These are few and far between and in keeping with the tone of your blog, so absolutely fair play missus, and I can only hope that one day my blog is as successful as yours. :)
Sincerely,
Love your blog, long time reader :) xxx
I don't like how you need to scroll down after the post to find out that it is a sponsored post. Although you can easily tell after reading the first paragraph so I guess it does'nt matter...
ReplyDeleteI love your blog, I have to say I was a bit disappointed to not see a review of this product when I saw the post however I agree that the odd post here and there is ok as long as it's fitting with the theme of your blog which this one is :). although I would love to see a review of this product, will you be getting one? you obviously work hard on your blog, and I'm happy for you to make money off it. You're blog is one of my absolute faves I always look forward to reading your posts :).
ReplyDeleteMegan xxx
Agree, people would have perceived it differently if it was more like a review.
DeleteThat however won't make me stop reading your blog!
"I thought you gave sincere reviews" I love you Meg but I have to agree. I don't care if you buy products with your own money or not but this isn't even a review, is just justified advert/spam. I want to know about YOUR products, YOUR life not other sponsored and non-relevant stuff.
ReplyDeleteIt's Meg's blog. She states it's a sponsored post to decifer between personal opinion and sponsored information. If you don't like reading sponsored posts or like seeing adverts, then you probably shouldn't have an interest in the blogging world. Social media advertising is on the increase, most popular blogs do.
ReplyDeleteIf you don't like what Meg posts, get off the blog.
The sad moment when Meg publishes something on her blog and you notice is an advert.... :C
ReplyDeleteYOU GO GIRL!
ReplyDeleteI don't think some people realise how much time and effort you put into a blog, not to mention your channel. Of course I know you do it because you enjoy it, I don't see why you shouldn't do sponsored posts and make a bit of money for all the effort you have put in. It doesn't detract from how good your blog is and its a beauty item so it fits in well. Magazines are forever having editorial adverts so I honestly don't understand what the issue is. Keep doing what you're doing Meg!

There is no bias or persuasion, and it is clearly and advert so who cares? Love your blog!
ReplyDeleteSo what if it's a sponsored post? If Meg was approached to write about it, surely that's a good thing because it showcases Meg's popularity? I say go meg! Haha also Siemens and Toshiba make a myriad of different medical equipment.
ReplyDeletePeople are acting as if they've never seen an advert in their lives. Why shouldn't you do a sponsored post every now and again? Obviously so much effort (and money!) goes into running a beauty blog so I really don't see what the problem is!
ReplyDeleteAmy xx
Golly gosh. Some people need to stop bickering. C'mon, let's all me realistic here. If a company offered to pay you money for a small post would you turn around and say, "uh, no thanks". Highly doubt it. Meg puts a lot of effort in her blog and deserves something back. Honestly, nit picking at other people is annoying as hell and downright rude. And I thought the beauty community was supposed to be supportive. :/
ReplyDeleteThe negative comments on this are ridiculous. You are showing no bias/opinion, it is purely informative, therefore it should not make a difference if the post is sponsored or not. Wasn't there a Loreal or some other hair company sponsored post doing the rounds a couple of months ago?
ReplyDeleteAlso, this post is INFORMING readers of a new product, I personally probably would never have discovered unless seen on a blog.
Excellent posting, as always, Meg.

Just to clarify - a sponsored post is NOT an advert. I've read through these comments and I was so bloody incensed I had to write something even though I'm on holiday!!!!
ReplyDeleteYou people seriously need to get off your high horses. Bloggers only ever take sponsored posts if it is a product that they genuinely believe in and would be happy to endorse. If you are happy to write about various different things (which is free PR/advertising anyway...) why not occasionally do a sponsored post?
What is the harm? Seriously? Because if you would have written about it anyway....
The irony is here that journalists get wined and dined and BOUGHT to write positive things bloggers are the only group who stick to their integrity. But you lot wouldn't be bitching on some fucking journalist would you? No, you are trolling here.
In my mind it is no different to accepting a PR sample. And as for disclosure? Meg has disclosure all over her blog.
Sorry I'm so angry. But you people are clearly out here
To get someone upset. It's prickish, jealous behaviour.
DEAR MEG.
ReplyDeleteI THINK YOU SHOULD APOLOGISE IMMEDIATELY FOR:
A, HAVING A GREAT BLOG
B, NOT BEING A DICK
C, PUTTING UP WITH DICKS WHO READ YOUR GREAT BLOG
D, DOING WHATEVER YOU LIKE WITH YOUR BLOG
E, DISCLOSING IN A COMPLETELY LEGAL AND ETHICAL MANNER
F, KILLING SMALL ANIMALS AND POSTING PICTURES OF SAID TORTURE ON YOUR BLOG
ONE OF THE ABOVE MAY NOT APPLY.
OH. AND.
SOME OF YOU NEED TO GET A LIFE.
BECAUSE YOU'RE DICKS.
ALRIGHTY THEN.
YOURS,
MRS H.
SPOT ON! Well said Hirons! Ignore the dicks Meg, some people obviously have too much time on their hands xxx
DeleteOH COME ON.
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone really care that this might be sponsored? Should you not be happy for Meg that her blog has gotten so popular and so she gets the opportunity to do stuff like this?
WHY WOULD IT BOTHER YOU to the point where you feel the need to comment on it in a childish manner? Jealousy.
Anyway, love your blog meg x
Meg, keep on keepin' on. There was no bias in this post; like you have pointed out, it is purely informational and completely in line with your blog. Had it been an advert for something completely unrelated, I could understand the gripes (that's putting it mildly) of other commenters. You have always been 100% honest about your posts, and even in your separate post outlining your disclosure, you state that you do accept sponsored posts, though rarely and always with relevance to your blog. You're not the only beauty blogger to accept sponsored posts and you're always ethical about doing so, and why shouldn't you make a little money back from something you put even more money into?
ReplyDeleteYou've done nothing wrong, remember that. xoxo
Haha nice to stir up some healthy debate =)
